I am sorry, I normally don’t like talking bad about anyone/styles. I am a firm believer if you don’t have anything nice to say then don’t say it at all. BUT today at Marissa Casey Trend we are making an exception:
I think Lady Gaga is an amazing performer, but her outfits are just so ridiculous (and for once I mean in a bad way). I just don’t get her and never will. Yes, she’s a “performer”, but is she just hiding her ugliness under crazy outfits. Sometimes her outfits are pretty sick, but can’t she keep her “crazy outfits” for performing and not to wear on the reg? Tell me what you think? I would love your opinions.
Check her out on the cover of Q. Come on Gaga, what is with those gloves and pants. Cool? I guess, but not really.

She is the most original, talented performer I have seen in at least 20 years, and this from someone who has been in all facets of the music business since 1978…her songwriting is top notch, her production, both in studio and on stage are unmatched at this point, so her costuming and wardrobe must follow suit…outrageous, unique, freaky, yes, she is all of those things, but her style IS her own….I love GaGa and it is so refreshing to see someone put it all out there, wether she is approved of by the “fashion police” or not….she has got “it” and that is a rarity in this day and age.
Thank you Mike for your feedback… but my question to you is: did you see Lady Gaga on boiling points? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1SIK-yzlxiU . If her style is “her own”, where was her craziness before she was famous? I completely agree with you on everything you said, but sometimes I think she dresses a little inappropriate and her “costumes” should be saved for performances or special appearances.
Before she was famous she was playing piano at The Bitter End and being a singer/songwriter. The outrageousness came later….she went from a simple type of piano /vocal performer to an”electronic” dance type of format. At who’s suggestion we don’t know. The fact that she dresses the way she does ALL the time makes her different and special.
She is like Captain Fantastic come to life….she IS her image…ALL the time…She dosent take it off…it IS her…THAT is why she has legions of little “monster” fans….they relate to her BEING the creation she has made for herself….take it all away and she is just another girl at a piano (although her songs, performed solo acoustic,just her and piano work beautifully)

The only reason lady gaga is even popular is that she wears crazy clothes on the reg. I think she should make her day-to-day outfits even more bizzare, shocking, and offensive. She needs to push the limits of social acceptablity and challenge the established social norm that wearing crazy clothes on a regular basis is indeed crazy. Furthermore, I think that the only times in which lady gaga shouldn’t be drapped is outrageous attire is during her performances, where she should be dressed in remarkably plain, boring, and otherwsie unfashionable clothing. This would completely revolutionize the way people think about thier own outfit choices and lady gaga would be able to take all the credit. If she wants her fame to grow, which naturally she does, it would make sense for her to take my advice, not yours.

I understand you’re concern, but Gaga is of a new funky, modern architectural age in Fashion. Just like one does not necessarily copy exactly from the runways, Gaga makes a fashion statement every day with her pieces, not intending to be practical.
In the photo you showed above she resembles Edward Scissor-hands, perhaps making a statement about the way society views people. If you think about the depth, creativity and possible statement she is making through her extravagant outfits. By looking at the foundation or inspiration of to her lyrics and stage name, Lady Gaga*, she makes criticisms of society and world issues.
If anything her outfits are like museum pieces and that is one aspect that makes her a special artist, profound and worthy of fame.
*Lady Gaga is named after the Queen song, Radio Gaga: The song was a commentary on the invention of televisions overtaking radio’s popularity and how one would listen to radio for a favorite comedy, drama, or sci-fi program and so on. It also pertained to the advent of the music video and MTV. (Ironically, the video would become a regular staple on MTV in 1984.)

Celebrity Juice, Not from Concentrate
It’s refreshing to see an artist who has a point of view and a story to tell, I appreciate the effort and point of view. I don’t think Gaga limits her persona to performance, I think anytime she is in public she is there for a reason and has thought about the message she wants to send. In boiling points she was not famous and not Lady Gaga, now when she goes out she is promoting her career, vision, etc.
Lady GaGa said she HATED her outfit in that shoot, no need to judge her!
I think everybody expects this star to create more succesfull songs.
